KippoShift

KippoShift is a 2D action roguelite built around one central idea — you are never locked into a single playstyle.

You start as Kippo, a scrappy fighter who hurls rocks at anything that gets in his way — and when he really means it, he throws a much bigger one. From there, the game opens up. Unlock new Shifts — alternate combat forms, each with their own attacks, their own energy pool, and their own personality. Freeze enemies solid. Summon skeleton allies. Channel a devastating beam. Charm your enemies into fighting for you. Every Shift is a different game inside the same run.

Between runs, spend your gold. Unlock new forms. Invest Ability Points into the stats that match your style. Level each Shift independently so the ones you love grow with you.

The floors never stop getting harder. The enemies never stop getting more dangerous. And the only way through is to adapt — shift by shift, run by run.

KippoShift rewards the players who learn its systems, but it never punishes the ones still figuring it out. Kippo is always there. He never runs out of energy. He always gets you home.

All artwork in KippoShift is hand-crafted pixel art made by me. The game's code was written collaboratively with Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. Every system, every mechanic, every design decision was directed, tested, and iterated on by me — Claude helped me build what I envisioned, not the other way around. I believe in being upfront about how this game was made, and I'm proud of what I have finally been able to  build with the helping hand of AI when I needed it.
